Get to know your coach…
I am a Chartered Accountant and was previously CFO of an entrepreneurial marketing services firm for 17 years.
However, I prefer people to money and now love coaching people with their finances.
Although I have worked with money for my whole career, for many years I managed to neglect my own. Once I had caught up and got my own money organised, I felt a relief of stress that I didn’t realise I had. Like a reformed smoker I now have an enthusiasm for encouraging others to get their money organised.
We’re all different and we all have different money issues – different goals, hopes, expectations, and worries. Yet there’s one thing most of us have in common: money can be a source of stress and a source of pleasure … and it doesn’t matter how much money we have or don’t have.
For me, money coaching is all about listening and understanding a client’s specific situation, and then creating a bespoke plan tailored to the client’s individual circumstances. When we have a plan that fits, we can then work out what we need to do to implement it. And that’s all about breaking things down into easy bite-sized chunks. As we begin to tick these off, stress dissipates; spending money becomes enjoyable (without that nagging guilt); long-term goals and financial security are taken care of; and gone are those insecurities whenever someone talks about pensions or investments or tax relief.
